Heart!
I can' believe I forgot to write about this when we went! This was such a great concert and so much fun!
A big group of us had the pleasure of going to see Heart in concert. The show was at McMennamins Edglefield out in Troutdale. For those that haven't been there it is a big out door concert pavilion with seating on the grass.
We chose to show up extra early to have a wonderfull dinner at McMennamins and enjoy a good pint of their Ruby beer.
There were 6 of us in total, Morgan and I, Darrell, Leslie, Emma and Jessica. The concert was amazing, I would go see them again given the chance and I will never forget what a great show they put on.
Happy Halloween! A week early...
So every year our friends Kat and Jason have a HUGE Halloween bash. This being the first year we've known them, this was the first year we got to experience it...and unfortunately the last one for a while, it is a big production that they want to take a break from for a couple years. The decorations were amazing and the party was awesome!
To describe some of the decorations: There was an 8 foot (or taller) Jack in the box in the front yard, then when you walk in to the garage/dungeon there is a man in a chair being electrocuted, sounds and all! Once you walk in to the hallway it is themed around the movie "Seven" and the seven deadly sins, complete with pictures from scenes in the movie and even a head in a box. Through the hall in the game room there is the "Dexter" room, complete with a body saran wrapped to a table and blood spatter on the walls. There was a lot of detail in every room of the house, even the backyard. The whole place was amazing and everyone was dressed up! I have never seen so many people get in to Halloween. It was a lot of fun and I'm disappointed I won't be able to attend such an elaborate Halloween party next year, I don't think anyone can do it quite as well as Kat and Jason. In case you didn't notice, I went as Madonna this year and Morgan went as....drum roll please....a penguin! Who would've guessed?! Third year in a row, but it's still a hit!

Prison Camp
So Prison Camp is this place off of highway 6, out in the middle of nowhere. It is called Prison Camp beacause there is a minimum security prison/work camp there and the prisoners help to
keep up the roads. This is where Morgan and his friends go camping usually. Having only gone campine once this year we figured we getter get one more night in before summer was gone. There were 7 of us in all, you can't see Darrell because he is the one taking the picture, and 3 dogs. We got to their usual spot and set up camp then sat in our camping chairs and enjoyed the wonderfull sunshine weather while the boys went hunting for more firewood. It was a fun night, we enjoyed Morgan on the guitar and Kelly on the harmonica, followed closely by singing from the rest of the group and dancing from Justin and I. It was a perfect night to set up camp and enjoy relaxing in the woods with friends one last time before summer fades away.

My Birthday!

Bumbershoot
Every year in Seattle they have what is call Bumbershoot. It is a HUGE 3 day event in which there are a lot of live performances by bands, comedians, and a lot of booths and food. So a 3 day hippie fest, as Morgan would put it.
This year we had the pleasure of going to Bumbershoot, thanks to my Mom. She flew out from D.C. and we all drove up from Oregon (Caela, Ben, Morgan and I). We then enjoyed pouring rain, at parts, and wonderfull music. We had the pleasure of seeing Patton Oswalt, who is hilarious by the way, if you ever get the chance to see him you should. We also go to see one of our favorites, Jason Mraz, who always puts on a good live show!
It was a great weekend of good food, family and fun! I look forward to doing that again another year, I love and miss Seattle, it'll always be my home!

Morgan's Birthday!
Las Vegas!
So...I went to Vegas! I decided that this year I would get the chance to see most of what I wanted to see. With a whole week there I think I accomplished that!!! I also think that a week is way too long to be in Vegas!
In terms of pool, I shot well, I moved up to a 4, and we made it 4 rounds before we lost out, but we tried our best as a team and that's what counts. I got to experience a lot of Vegas this time around...one thing I learned was that you should NOT stay off the strip. While it was nice to stay in a timeshare, it was so far away that we never went back to cook meals, so it didn't really save money. I also learned that if you want to gamble cheaply you have to stick to the old casinos, I'm not a big gambler, but when in Vegas!
I got the pleasure of seeing a couple of my friends while I was down there. I got to eat dinner at The Venetian with Sheryl and I got to hang out with Julie for a couple days. Julie came down to see me for one day and ended up staying for 3...aaaah, the black hole that is Vegas. We did get to go to Mandalay Bay and see the Shark Reef which was really fun! I can't way to go back and visit again, the right way, although I think I did Vegas pretty good this year (next time not a whole week though!).
4th of July
Oh My!!!
Oops! It looks like it has been many months since the last time we posted anything! So sorry! Well...I guess there's a lot to fill everyone in on...how about some photos to fill in the blanks?!

Floating!
All this hot weather lately!!!! It's been in the 90's the past couple of days, that's crazy for Portland. I finally got to go rafting for the first time in years though, it was soooo much fun! We went out and bought just a cheap inflatable raft, which says it holds 3 people, but it holds 2, and not very comfortably at that!
So, Morgan and I took Emma and Sean with us down the Clackamas River on Friday. We ended up not making it out there until 5, but it was the perfect time to go. I forgot the sunscreen so going that late I didn't get burned, thank God! The float took us 3 1/2 hours, but it was perfect!
At one point we hit some shallow water and ended up getting beached! That was a little sad, but we survived.
You wouldn't think, but rafting sure takes a lot out of you! I don't know if it was the sun or the rowing, but by the time we finally got to shore I was tired!
The cops were out in full force too. Apparently you have to have a life jacket with you in all flotation devices. You don't have to wear it, but you do have to have it. I was unaware of this little fact until we made it to Carver and the cops were issuing citations...luckily we got out of there quick and didn't get one ourselves! Next time I'll have to remember that though, and buy a new boat!!! One that can fit 2 people comfortably, or I'll just float by myself.
I can't wait until next time though, it was so nice to be on water again.
Vegas!
For those of you that don't know...my 8-ball t
eam made it to Vegas!!!!! I had the good luck and pleasure of going last year for 9-ball and our team took 5th place in the nation! Hopefully we will do just as well this year, if not better. It is a big honor to go and represent Oregon, and it was no small feat to get there either. After every session they hold what is called Tri-cups, if you do well there you move on to regionals. Regionals are held once a year and that is the qualifier for nationals. It is not easy to get through either tournament, but the strength of our team, and Excalibur got us through! (Excalibur is the nickname we came up with for Morgan's cue) So, come August, I will be in Las Vegas playing pool!!!! I can't wait! I had so much fun last year and I know this year will be even better. Hopefully I can actually see some of Vegas this time around, instead of just the inside of the Riviera.

Graduation!

Finally! Graduation! It was a long hard road to get here, but I finally made it. I'm sure everyone was starting to wonder if I would ever get there...well, I did!!!
I think the last week had to have been one of the busiest and most stressful weeks I've had in a while. I wanted to be excited, but I had finals and papers to worry about, up until the day before graduation. Then finally the long awaited day came...
It was unfortunate that my sisters and my mom couldn't make my graduation, but I had plenty of support. I could hear my friends screaming when they announced my name. It felt really special to have such good friends in attendance. I got nervous walking up to the stage. I think I was afraid of falling, given that I wasn't wearing the most practical shoes, but I made it across the stage just fine.
After graduation it was a mad dash to make it to Eugene to try to see Caela walk. Morgan and I made it on time, but once we parked we didn't know how to get to campus. We ended up walking in the wrong direction for a while, and then getting lost. Luckily Ben came to our rescue, but we didn't make it in time for Caela's graduation.
It was nice to have the family together for such an event. It felt good to celebrate such an accomplishment. Caela and I definitely did our part of celebrating that night. I enjoyed Eugene, but wish we could have seen more of it, but there's always next time :)

Boys and Girls Mini Golf Tourney

So Sunday we held a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of America! We secured an 18-hole mini golf course at Bullwinkle's for 2 hours and held a mini golf tourney for kids 16 and under. It was a beautiful HOT day, but it was a great experience and we were able to raise money for a good cause. Check out the website I made too! http://www.boysandgirlsfundraiser.webs.com/
This was a great experience for me, being that I want to go in to sports marketing...It really opened my eyes by putting on my own event. It so much more useful executing something than just talking about it. It really got me fired up to graduate and get out there and do this on my own!

Camping...
So Thursday night we decided to head out camping with Caela, Ben, and friends. I did not realize that where we were going, Kimberly, was a 4 1/2 hour drive from Portland. Are we crazy or what?! So Thursday night we don't end up making it there until about 1 am. So this makes for not much sleep, given that we woke up at the next morning when the sun came up and heated our wonderful tent to a good 100 degrees! Not the most pleasant thing to wake up to, that's for sure.
The property we were on was beautiful though and Ben made us quite the little set-up. He spent all day making a latrine for everyone to use, there was a food hut, a stage for people to play on and a beer pong table set-up. What more amenities could you need in the wilderness. We were on about 100 acres of property that one of his friends lived on. They had a whole bunch of mules and a couple donkeys, which were fun to pet, I wish I stayed longer and rode one (I heard they took them on a trail hike today). I was unfortunate that Morgan and I had to leave early Saturday morning to make it to yet another ron of my dentist appointments, but alas, we had to. Unfortunately I can not reschedule anything if I want to get everything done before graduation!
Friday night was amazing! The boys had stuffed a 290 lb. pig and put it in the ground to cook for 24 hours. They dug it up Friday night and we had the pleasure of eating some very good meat! I was very grateful to Ben for the wonderful job he did putting this whole trip together. His brother and sister-in-law are also a very prepared couple. They were a lot of fun too!
Overall the weekend was a success! Except for having to come home early on Saturday...I wish we could have stayed another night, we met some great people and had a lot of fun!

Beachy Weekend!
Sunburn weekend
I know it's been awhile...we all get busy. I had a tooth pulled Monday, no fun. I've been recovering slowly since then. Morgan has been nicely dealing with my diet of mashed potatoes... That he has been making ;)
We are starting a fitness program on Monday! We'll see the results soon...I hope it's as good as it looks. It'll be nice to be in shape again! For both of us.
So, I played 2 lacrosse games this morning, in 70-80 degree weather! Hence the sunburns! We won both games, but sadly it wasn't good enough to make playoffs tomorrow. If only we had enough players when we were in Seattle and didn't have to forfeit 2 games. What do you do? Can't turn the clock back.
I have to say, today was beautiful! We had 7 subs,so plenty of breaks, which is amazing, given we don't always have a full team. I didn't know we had so many players it was nice to see old faces.
Now I have tomorrow off, no games to play, and it's supposed to be even nicer, so we'll see what we get into....

Yet another busy weekend!
Another weekend full of stuff!!! We left for Seattle at 5:00 pm on Friday, and actually made good time for once! It was amazing.
We spent some time Friday night, hanging out with friends. Then, Saturday morning it was back to Marymoor Park again, and back on the lacrosse field. Unfortunately we didn't have enough players on Saturday and had to forfeit our two games. We borrowed a couple players from other teams and still played for fun. It was sad we had to forfeit because we won the first game 11-5, but what do you do?
Saturday night we went to a lovely dinner at Claim Jumper with the fam to celebrate Caela's 22nd birthday!!! It was a wonderful dinner. We got to see the biggest piece of cake ever, it was about 6 layers and bigger than my forearm!!!
We then took Caela out for some birthday drinks. It was fun to hang out with my sis'. Although we live in the same state, we never get to see each other, it's sad. After a night of bonding I had to return her to grandma and mom and headed off to play more lacrosse.
Sunday was great! We had a couple more players from our team show up, so we didn't have to forfeit! We won both our games, yeah!!! It was beautiful weather, I got a little sunburn on my shoulders even. It was a fun weekend, although by the time we left Morgan was sick (swine flu!). It was great to be up in my birth city two weeks in a row! It really makes me miss the city and my friends and family.
This weekend...no plans, just working on Mother's Day, unfortunately my mom lives too far away to take to lunch. Sad :( We'll see what this week has in store!

3 Lacrosse Games and a Wedding
So we had a busy last weekend. For those that do not know, my dad got married! I now have a step mom...it's really weird to say. I also had some lacrosse games on Wednesday, which was fun...but stressful racing from one place to the next. We ended up getting stuck in traffic on the way from Marysville to Bellingham. Apparently this is the time of year for the Tulip festival in Mount Vernon, who knew?! Well, it was a beautiful day, a beautiful wedding, a beautiful bride, beautiful decorations and a wonderful ceremony. I hope to have pictures up sometime soon. Unfortunately the battery on my camera died, so I have to rely on family to send me pictures. On that note, there was a good turn out on the family. It was great to see everyone I haven't seen in a while. Thank god for the internet, otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep half my family straight :) The coming weekend looks to be another one full of lacrosse games and family, hopefully I'll have pictures to post this time. I'll learn to post from my phone soon...this site is a little different than my other one.

Over the weekend
We had a beautiful weekend here in Portland! It was wonderful weather yesterday, actually got in to the 80's. Saturday was a first for me, I got contacts! I don't plan on wearing them all the time, just when needed, but it's a new look I'm not used to anymore. I had trouble trying to put in my contacts this morning and finally gave up, I think it'll take a while until I get the hang of it. Saturday was also an eventful day in the sports world, there was the UFC fights and the Blazer game. For those that haven't been following, we made it to the playoffs, unfortunately we lost on Saturday, but we'll see...The UFC fights were kind of disappointing as well, at least they were for me, I don't know how Morgan felt.
Sunday, the most beautiful day of the weekend I spent being lazy, for most of the day at least. We did take a nice leisurely walk in the afternoon, on the path by our house. It was perfect weather in the shade. About 6pm we went to Lincoln High School where my lacrosse team mixed up players with the other Portland team to scrimmage. It was way too hot to be running around on a field! I also came out injured :( I'll survive, I'll just have a nasty bruise on my arm for a week or two, but that's what happens when you get hit with a lacrosse ball.
All in all it was a wonderful weekend! I look forward to summer, I love the nice weather :)

LumberJax game!
Heading out to see the last LumberJax game of the season on Friday. We are playing the Calgary Roughnecks! Sounds scary :) For those that do not know, the Lumberjax are Portland's men's lacrosse team. Being a player of lacrosse myself I love to go to these games. The tickets are also pretty cheap and no seat is a bad seat at these games. It really is a lot of fun to be able to go to a professional sporting event for only $16. For those that haven't been...now is your chance, or you'll have to wait until next season, which sadly isn't until January. The last time we played the Roughnecks we won...so here's to winning on Friday!!! Let's end the season on a high note!

Hiking!
So although I have live in Portland for almost 5 years now, I have never fully explored the area. Last weekend I finally got the chance to explore a little bit. Some friends told me about LaTourelle Falls, out near Troutdale. It was an easy 2.1 mile hike and very pretty. It was a little busy on a Saturday afternoon, but not to the extent that Multnomah Falls gets busy. The lower waterfall was beautiful and it was nice to be sprayed by the water at the end of our hike (I wish it had been a little warmer that day though). Overall it was a nice enjoyable hike, very beautiful, a lot of uphill though, which Morgan (my boyfriend) was not too fond of. For someone not too experienced I thouroughly enjoyed myself!
